The procedure included:
- Trace around the outside of your foot (either one) or trace around both feet (if your feet are small) on construction paper.
- Plan out your design using elements that tell about you - your interests, your family, your hobbies, or something special about you or that you have done in order to introduce yourself to the class.
- Use at least three mediums such as construction paper, markers, and ribbon. Lay out the design before you start to glue. The design can run off of the edge of the foot as long as it will stay glued on.
- Display your foot as you introduce yourself by explaining what each part of your design means.
I enjoyed creating my foot, but since I am a thinker, it did take me quite awhile to plan out my simple design. I used construction paper, markers, tissue paper to make the apple and a piece of leaf from an artificial flower for the stem, and a decorative ribbon. This is the explanation of my design and how I introduced myself to the class:
- My footprint is on pink construction paper because pink has been my favorite color since I can remember.
- My name is on green paper to signify that life is a journey of growth to me.
- I placed the picture of the empty tomb in the center to show that Jesus is the center of my life. The shining yellow rays mean that He is alive and the heart reveals His love for me.
- On the toe, I placed a picture of my family. They are the world to me—my husband's name is Ron, my oldest son's name is Ryan, my daughter's name is Alicia, and my youngest son's name is Joshua.
- On the heel, is an apple representing that I am a teacher. I am back in college to earn my degree, so I can start the next season of my life.
- Those three pictures are large signifying that they are the main parts of my life.
- The music notes are drawn all around because I am surrounded by music in my family. My husband is a musician and all three of my kids are musical; we even have a music room in our house.
- The paw print means we have a dog. He is an eighty pound black lab. My youngest son prayed that Dad would change his mind about a dog for three years. Then Dad came home for Christmas with a dog.
- I added a yellow decoration ribbon to the top to signify that I like to have fun. I like to play games and laugh.
